In the current (November 2016) edition of Photo District News, photographer Dawoud Bey discusses a body of work he has worked on about the world of Harlem. In th article by Dzana Tsomondo, Dawoud is quoted as saying: "One of the biggest challenges was to make everything within the frame have some meaning in terms of the story about change that I wanted to tell." Simplicity, nothing extraneous. A challenge for any photographer, for unlike painters for instance, photographers and their cameras capture everything within the frame. So having everything with the frame have a meaningful role in the final image is a critical component of any image. Challenge on!
